Ten years ago no-one would even think about publishing stories of under 150 words, now it has become almost common place due to the medium and the new language.

That being said I prefer a few of the American spellings, if not the pronounciations. For example it’s a little more sensible spelling it “thru” than “through” (pronounced thrughtff).

Maybe America just has more dyslexics so they made their language easier.

It illustrated well that storytelling trumps originality most of the time. I’d rather a well told re-telling than a poorly written original idea.

I think that last point, about similarities in stories, is a really important one for people to be aware of.

Maybe it comes under the heading of ‘there’s nothing new in the world’ but as someone who reads submissions for magazines, I can tell you that there are remarkable similarities between stories at times.
